Privacy policy

I don't use cookies or advertising trackers. I count visits with privacy-friendly analytics that don't store your IP address or follow you across days or sites.

Who is responsible

MICKEY.studio is the sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) of Mikael Petersen in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 86599771, VAT ID (btw-id) NL004274939B90. For anything about your data, email hi@mickey.studio.

Visitor statistics

I use Plausible Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, where they came from, and whether they click the email, LinkedIn or GitHub links. Plausible records the page address, the referring site, your browser, operating system and device type, how far you scroll and how long you stay, and your approximate location (country, region and city), which it works out from your IP address.

Plausible sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It doesn't store your IP address either: it only uses it, mixed with a random value that changes every day, to count unique visitors. So neither Plausible nor I can tell who you are or follow you across days or sites.

The statistics go via mickey.studio, so no third-party script loads in your browser, to Plausible Insights OÜ in Estonia, which processes them for me and stores them on servers in Germany. I keep them for as long as I use Plausible. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and block abuse. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the site working and secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare, Inc. is a US company; transfers to the US rely on its certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Your theme setting

If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser remembers the choice in its local storage. It stays on your device, is never sent to me, and you can clear it in your browser settings at any time.

Emails

If you email me, I use your address and message to reply and, if we work together, to run the project. My email provider stores them for me. The legal basis is taking steps towards, or carrying out, a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), or my legitimate interest in answering your question (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

I keep emails as long as we're in touch. If we work together, I keep invoices and related correspondence for 7 years, as Dutch tax law requires (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data I hold about you, to limit how I use it, to object to it, or to get a copy to take elsewhere. Email hi@mickey.studio and I'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
